Luffu is designed primarily for the person who manages medical responsibilities within a family, such as scheduling doctor visits, tracking medications, and monitoring the well-being of others.
The app also targets users who care simultaneously for children and aging parents. It even allows users to track the health of pets.
“We’re caring for three generations at once: kids at home, parents with busy schedules, and my 80-year-old father who lives with diabetes,” Friedman noted.
Features and functionality
Luffu offers a daily Morning Brief, summarizing the health status of each family member. Users can input information in flexible formats — voice notes, text, or photos. The app integrates with platforms such as Apple Health and Fitbit, and the company has stated that it plans to expand into hardware in the future.
According to the developers, Luffu is not a traditional chatbot. Instead, it functions as a background support system, delivering notifications only when changes or unusual health signals are detected.
The company emphasizes that users remain in control of their data — deciding what information is shared, with whom, and to what extent. Users can also opt in or out of allowing their data to be used for AI training.
Registration is currently open for a waitlist ahead of a limited public beta of Luffu.
Luffu represents a shift from individual health tracking to AI-driven family health management. The app focuses on background monitoring and risk detection rather than constant user interaction. It extends the original Fitbit philosophy to real-world, multi-generation family care scenarios.
